FROM SEZEN
Following is Sezen Aksu’s letter to Berkin Elvan, who died at 15 years of age after being in a coma as a result of being hit in the head by a tear gas cartridge.

Arrogance lost its composure and reasoning ability, the power of a rising, poisoned conscience also took Berkin away from us… Took little Berkin… His laughter, his childhood, his youth, his dreams, the contributions he could have made, his morals…..

Berkin, my dear son, my sweet child … My scorching heart, my aching lungs ...

I am not able to explain it logically, but I feel that perhaps the transformative power of your loss is something that is not the destiny for us, the living…

Believing you hear us, I ask you to tell the brothers who went before you: There are good and honest people in this world, so many! And, they will eventually win; I do not know how and when, but in any case…

Life flows forward. Sometimes rising above the 16 kilogram body of a child, it gains meaning again.

You see, you're joining us now…
